President, Lauren Williams attended a California Preservation Foundation all day workshop in Los Angeles. The subject was TEA-21 funds. Half of the panelists were Caltrans professionals. The major presenter, a Caltrans Community Coordinator, and the workshop organizer looked over the Trolley Museum proposal and said, "You need to get a consultant and get started on the Section 106 process. You have a viable Project!" It was a very informative and encouraging day.

hugely qualified consultant team. Qualified and experienced consultants not only provide objective credibility for design, engineering and governmental regulatory concerns, they know the funding sources. They also know how to qualify for and successfully apply for grants. Having done it before is important. We can't afford to "learn on the job" on this one. We are likely to get only one shot at it. Mature and successful railroad museums may budget as much as $15,000 per year on fund raising alone.
